Talk to a person about Stillnote
Stillnote is a private, on-device meeting notes app for Mac, and we would rather answer a real question than have you guess. Email is how you reach us. Pick the address that matches what you need and we will read it.
You might not need us
A large share of the questions people send are the same handful, and the answers are short. If yours is below, you have it now instead of waiting on a reply. If it is not, or the answer does not match what you are seeing, email support and tell us what happened.
The questions we actually get
What do I need to run Stillnote?
An Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 13 or later. There is no Intel Mac build, no Windows build, and no Linux build today, so if your machine is not an Apple Silicon Mac, Stillnote will not run on it yet.
Do I need an account to use it?
No. Stillnote opens straight to a new meeting and works fully signed out. You only sign in if you want to connect a calendar or move to a paid plan. There is no signup wall in front of your first note.
Do I need to be online?
Only once, at the very start. The app itself is a small download and does not ship the AI models inside it, so the first time you launch it, it downloads the speech and language models it needs. After that the whole pipeline runs on your Mac and works with no internet connection at all, including on hostile guest wifi or a plane.
Where do my recordings and notes actually go?
They stay on your Mac. Recording, transcription, and summarization all run locally. Your meeting audio and transcripts are never uploaded to a Stillnote server and are never used to train a model. That is the product, not a setting you have to find and switch on.
The app will not open, or macOS is asking for permissions. What now?
Stillnote needs microphone access to hear you, and screen recording access to capture the other side of a video call and to read names shown on screen. macOS asks for these the first time they are needed, and if you dismissed a prompt you can grant it later in System Settings under Privacy and Security. If you are still stuck, email support@getstillnote.com and describe what you saw, including anything macOS put on screen.
How do I report a bug in a way that actually helps?
Tell us what you expected, what happened instead, your macOS version, and the Stillnote version from the app. If it involved a specific meeting, tell us which meeting app it was (Zoom, Teams, Meet, or in person) and roughly when. Please do not send us your meeting audio or transcript: we do not want it, we cannot receive it, and we can almost always diagnose the problem without it.
Is there a phone number or a live chat?
No. Stillnote is a small team and support runs on email, so we would rather tell you that plainly than put a chat widget on this page that nobody is sitting behind.
How fast will you reply?
We read every email that comes in and we answer as quickly as we honestly can. We are deliberately not going to print a response-time guarantee we have not earned the ability to keep. Paid Pro plans get priority in the queue.
One note on what to send us
Because Stillnote keeps everything on your machine, we do not have a copy of your meetings and we cannot look up your account and read your notes to debug something. That is the point of the product, and it does change how support works: we need you to describe the problem, because we genuinely cannot see it.
It also means you should not send us your recordings or transcripts. We do not want them, we do not need them to help you, and the whole reason you chose an on-device app was to keep them off other people's servers. Describe the behaviour instead, and if you can reproduce it, tell us the steps.
- Useful: what you expected, what happened, your macOS version, your Stillnote version, and which meeting app was involved.
- Not useful and please do not send: meeting audio, transcripts, or note contents.
